This chapter mirrors the opening of Season 1, Episode 1, The Red Gundam.
Amate, a high school student, begins her day reflecting on a vivid dream where she dances with a mysterious man and resolves to be bolder if the opportunity ever arises again.
Amid unfolding events, she becomes embroiled in a chase, guided by a strange voice in her head that steers her towards reclaiming her stolen belongings.
Similar to the anime, Amate confronts the thief and uncovers the underground world of Clan Battles, a realm where illegal mobile suit fights bring danger and reward in equal measure.
The chapter concludes with a surprising Gundam clash that rekindles her connection to the enigmatic man from her dream, leaving her with a renewed sense of purpose and possibility.

Chapter 2: Amate’s Awakening

This chapter mirrors the second half of Season 1, Episode 1, The Red Gundam.
Amate is guided by an enigmatic voice, which seems to know more about her destiny than she does. As she follows its directives, she begins to uncover abilities and instincts she didn’t realize she had.

Amate navigates a rooftop skirmish while evading collateral damage from incoming fire. The MPs (military police) arrive, escalating the tension, highlighting the plight of spacenoids post-war.
Amate decides to fight back using the Clan Battler’s Zaku, but unfortunately is not successful. Through a series of maneuvers, she encounters the white Gundam, which she instinctively feels is the right one to control.
With the voice’s guidance, Amate successfully unlocks and pilots the white Gundam, using its weapons to defeat an attacking MP Zaku.
The chapter ends with Amate being pursued into space, overwhelmed but determined to fight back alongside a Red Gundam.

Chapter 3: Clan Battle Hero

Amate interacts with an unseen presence named Casval, who claims to be a soldier from Zeon.
Amate meets Shuji, a mysterious graffiti artist connected to the Kira-Kira sparklies. They decide to enter a Clan Battle, aiming to secure funds. The Clan Battlers are revealed to be named the Pomeranians
Amate and Shuji fight as a team in the Clan Battle. Despite overwhelming odds, Amate shows remarkable skill, securing victory.
The true nature of GQuX remains ambiguous, but it’s clear that its operation goes beyond standard piloting. Whether it’s Amate’s instincts, Casval’s influence, or the Gundam’s own awareness, something unusual is at play.
Similarly, the Red Gundam’s needs and wishes are relayed through Shuji. What influences the Gundams are affected by will be interesting to discover.

Chapter 4: Witch Way Is Wrong

This passage revolves around a legendary mobile suit pilot, known as the Red Comet, during the intense battle at Solomon. He pursues an adversary known as The Witch, a formidable Federation pilot driven by vengeance.
Ghosts of War and Vengeance
Now known as Casval, the Red Comet exists as a psychic entity. He watches the world move on without him, particularly The Witch, who mourns her Mav and seeks revenge against the Red Comet.
Casval manipulates events from the shadows, orchestrating a return to battle through the modern spectacle of Clan Battles, a gladiatorial sport using mobile suits.
The Witch’s Return
Through subtle psychic nudges and strategic sabotage, Casval ensures The Witch returns to combat. Her obsession with vengeance blinds her to the cost, and she becomes a pawn in Casval’s larger plan to confront his past.
Casval does damage in his search for vengeance, and tries to make reparations in his own way.
Not that he actually says sorry.

The Rise of Amate and Shuji
Amate, piloting GQuX, and Shuji, in the Red Gundam, face off against The Witch in a climactic Clan Battle. Despite her deteriorating skills and obsession, The Witch remains dangerous.
The battle is intense, filled with psychic echoes, memories of past wars, and the haunting presence of Kira-Kira, a mysterious phenomenon tied to Newtypes.
The Final Duel
In a decisive moment, Shuji defeats The Witch, piercing her cockpit and ending her life. Her death is tragic but inevitable, a culmination of her inability to let go of the past. Casval, watching, feels a mix of pity and relief. The Witch’s obsession ends, and with it, a chapter of unresolved grief.
Redemption and Hope
Casval begins to change. His thirst for vengeance fades, replaced by a quiet longing for peace and connection. He grows attached to Amate, not just as a pilot, but as a person who offers him a glimpse of something more, hope, perhaps even love.
If anyone noticed, what the Red Gundam tells Shuji to say, is preceded by Casval saying almost the same thing.

Chapter 6: What Happens On The Sodon…

This chapter precedes Season 1, Episode 5, Nyann Doesn’t Know About Kira-Kira.
She’s chasing the truth. He’s chasing freedom. But neither can escape the past.
Ensign Comoli Harcourt is a model officer—disciplined, rational, and fiercely loyal. But her quiet infatuation with the enigmatic Xavier Olivette threatens to unravel her focus. Unbeknownst to her, a ghostly presence named Cas is tethered to her mind, manipulating her thoughts in a desperate bid to free himself. As Comoli begins to question Xavier’s identity and her own motivations, long-buried memories of a childhood friend named Amuro begin to surface.
This chapter felt rushed and there are many problems with it, like short choppy sentences, repetitive crap, missing motivating factors (like why Xavier changes his mind), and a host of other things.
If I get a chance, I’ll rewrite it.

Author’s Note:
I’ve been mulling over my next fandom for fan fiction and have been seriously considering Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX since the movie was released earlier this year (2025). What ultimately sold me on this choice was how the storyline cleverly interacts with the original Gundam narrative. As a longtime mecha anime fan, diving in didn’t require much catching up on the backstory.
I was never particularly fond of Amuro as the youthful, somewhat immature romantic lead in the original series. Char, on the other hand, has always stood out to me as a more mature and intriguing romantic hero. He’s a deeply compelling character, and seeing him again in Episode 2 of the new series has only reinforced my “admiration” for him.
Figuring out how to integrate Char into my fan fiction is going to be a challenge—especially if he doesn’t appear in any future episodes. That’s something I’ll have to navigate as the story unfolds.
As for Amate as the female protagonist, I’m still unsure about her role. It seems likely she’ll end up paired with Shuji in the series, but I won’t know for certain until the season finale. If that’s the case, I’m open to the idea of shipping her with Char instead in my story—if only as friends or frenemies.
